主啊，求祢使我们喜爱祢的律法。求祢在我们心中载植仁爱，因为爱能成全律法。教导我们全心全意爱祢；也爱邻舍如同自己。保守我们，使我们不致较量祢诫命的大小，因为我们的估计是盲目的，只有祢赐我们恩惠，我们才会谦卑地承认，只在小事上有过失，就犯全律法了。求主垂听我们呼求。阿们！
罗茜蒂（一八三〇－九五）
主啊，引导我们在世事沧桑的多变中，无论遭遇什么，都能保持心灵的平衡，以致我们心灵完全依顺祢的旨意，得蒙祢的喜悦，决不为祢恩慈的管教而怨言。阿们！
戴禄（一六一三－一六六七）
“只剩下雅各一人；有一个人来和他摔交，直到黎明。”（创世记三十二章24节）
剩下一人！我们各人对于这四个字都有不同的感觉。有人剩下一人时感觉何等孤单，寂寞；也有人剩下一人时感觉幽静，可得安息。总之，剩下一人而没有神同在，是太凄凉的事；剩下一人而有主同在的话，是预尝天上的光景！如果神的儿女能多和他单独接触，我们都要变作属灵的伟人了。
我们的主给我们做了一个榜样。多少次数他独自退去单独亲近神；他吩咐我们“你祷告的时侯，要进你的内屋，关上门。”（马太福音六章六节）的目的，乃是要我们单独亲近神。
以利亚和以利沙最大的神迹，乃是在他们单独亲近神的时侯出现的。雅各在单独亲近神的时侯，成为一个王子。（以色列的意思就是王子）。约书亚在单独亲近神的时侯，得到胜利的把握。基甸和耶弗他在单独亲近神的时侯，看见天使。彼得独自在房顶上与神单独接触的时侯，受神托付到外邦人中去。施洗约翰独自住在旷野；耶稣所爱的门徒约翰独自在拔摩海岛上，孤单中他最接近神，所以得到了神最大的启示。
让我们贪恋单独和神亲近。如果我们把这件事情忽略了，我们就要失去树和枝子的交通，能力，以及天上各样属灵的福气。这是何等大的损失呢？并且我们不但剥夺了自己的祝福，也剥夺了别人的祝福，因为在我们自己得到祝福的时侯，我们才能带祝福给别人。单独亲近神也许要减少我们外面的工作；但是单独亲近神会给我们更大的能力；结果，我们就会“不见一人，只见耶稣在那里。。”（马太福音十七章八节）——选

| Where can we go? Our brothers have made us lose heart. They say, 'The people are stronger and taller than we are; the cities are large, with walls up to the sky. We even saw the Anakites there.' " | |

| and in the desert. There you saw how the Lord your God carried you, as a father carries his son, all the way you went until you reached this place." | |
| また荒野では、この場所に来るまでの全道中、あなたの神、主が、人が自分の子を抱くようにあなたを抱いてくださったのを、あなたがたは見ているのだ。 | |
| 32 | 虽然这样，你们还是不信耶和华你们的 神； |
| In spite of this, you did not trust in the Lord your God, | |

| 33 | 他在路上走在你们前面，为你们寻找安营的地方；夜间用火柱，日间用云彩，指示你们当走的路。 |
| who went ahead of you on your journey, in fire by night and in a cloud by day, to search out places for you to camp and to show you the way you should go. | |

| 34 | “耶和华听见了你们说话的声音，就恼怒，起誓说： |
| When the Lord heard what you said, he was angry and solemnly swore: | |

| 35 | ‘这个邪恶世代的人，连一个也不能看见我起誓应许赐给他们列祖的美地； |
| Not a man of this evil generation shall see the good land I swore to give your forefathers, | |

| 36 | 只有耶孚尼的儿子迦勒可以看见；并且我要把他踏过的地赐给他和他的子孙，因为他专心跟从了我耶和华。’ |
| except Caleb son of Jephunneh. He will see it, and I will give him and his descendants the land he set his feet on, because he followed the Lord wholeheartedly." | |

| But as for you, turn around and set out toward the desert along the route to the Red Sea. " | |

| Then you replied, "We have sinned against the Lord . We will go up and fight, as the Lord our God commanded us." So every one of you put on his weapons, thinking it easy to go up into the hill country. | |

| So I told you, but you would not listen. You rebelled against the Lord 's command and in your arrogance you marched up into the hill country. | |

| The Amorites who lived in those hills came out against you; they chased you like a swarm of bees and beat you down from Seir all the way to Hormah. | |
| するとその山地に住んでいたアモリ人が出て来て、あなたがたを迎え撃ち、蜂が襲うようにあなたがたを追いかけ、あなたがたをセイルで打ち破り、ホルマにまで及んだ。 | |
| 45 | 你们就回来，在耶和华面前哭，但耶和华不听你们的声音，也不向你们侧耳。 |
| You came back and wept before the Lord , but he paid no attention to your weeping and turned a deaf ear to you. | |
| あなたがたは戻って来て主の前で泣いたが、主はあなたがたの声を聞き入れず、耳を傾けられなかった。 | |
| 46 | 于是你们在加低斯住了许多日子。” |
| And so you stayed in Kadesh many days-all the time you spent there. | |

| Then we turned back and set out toward the desert along the route to the Red Sea, as the Lord had directed me. For a long time we made our way around the hill country of Seir. | |

| Then the Lord said to me, | |

| You have made your way around this hill country long enough; now turn north. | |

| Give the people these orders: 'You are about to pass through the territory of your brothers the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. They will be afraid of you, but be very careful. | |

| Do not provoke them to war, for I will not give you any of their land, not even enough to put your foot on. I have given Esau the hill country of Seir as his own. | |

| The Lord your God has blessed you in all the work of your hands. He has watched over your journey through this vast desert. These forty years the Lord your God has been with you, and you have not lacked anything. | |

| So we went on past our brothers the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir. We turned from the Arabah road, which comes up from Elath and Ezion Geber, and traveled along the desert road of Moab. | |

| Then the Lord said to me, "Do not harass the Moabites or provoke them to war, for I will not give you any part of their land. I have given Ar to the descendants of Lot as a possession." | |

| (The Emites used to live there-a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites. | |

| Like the Anakites, they too were considered Rephaites, but the Moabites called them Emites. | |

| Horites used to live in Seir, but the descendants of Esau drove them out. They destroyed the Horites from before them and settled in their place, just as Israel did in the land the Lord gave them as their possession.) | |

| And the Lord said, "Now get up and cross the Zered Valley." So we crossed the valley. | |

| Thirty-eight years passed from the time we left Kadesh Barnea until we crossed the Zered Valley. By then, that entire generation of fighting men had perished from the camp, as the Lord had sworn to them. | |

| The Lord 's hand was against them until he had completely eliminated them from the camp. | |

| Now when the last of these fighting men among the people had died, | |

| Today you are to pass by the region of Moab at Ar. | |

| When you come to the Ammonites, do not harass them or provoke them to war, for I will not give you possession of any land belonging to the Ammonites. I have given it as a possession to the descendants of Lot." | |

| (That too was considered a land of the Rephaites, who used to live there; but the Ammonites called them Zamzummites. | |

| They were a people strong and numerous, and as tall as the Anakites. The Lord destroyed them from before the Ammonites, who drove them out and settled in their place. | |

| The Lord had done the same for the descendants of Esau, who lived in Seir, when he destroyed the Horites from before them. They drove them out and have lived in their place to this day. | |

| And as for the Avvites who lived in villages as far as Gaza, the Caphtorites coming out from Caphtor destroyed them and settled in their place.) | |

| Set out now and cross the Arnon Gorge. See, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his country. Begin to take possession of it and engage him in battle. | |

| This very day I will begin to put the terror and fear of you on all the nations under heaven. They will hear reports of you and will tremble and be in anguish because of you." | |

| From the desert of Kedemoth I sent messengers to Sihon king of Heshbon offering peace and saying, | |

| 28 | 你可以按着价钱把食物卖给我吃，也可以按着价钱把水卖给我喝；只要让我步行过去就是了； |
| Sell us food to eat and water to drink for their price in silver. Only let us pass through on foot- | |

| as the descendants of Esau, who live in Seir, and the Moabites, who live in Ar, did for us-until we cross the Jordan into the land the Lord our God is giving us." | |
| セイルに住んでいるエサウの子孫や、アルに住んでいるモアブ人が私にしたようにしてください。そうして、私がヨルダン川を渡り、私たちの神、主が私たちに与えようとしておられる地に行けるようにしてください。」 | |
| 30 | 但是希实本王西宏不肯让我们从他那里经过，因为耶和华我们的 神使他的心意顽固，使他的心刚硬，为要把他交在你的手里，像今日一样。 |
| But Sihon king of Heshbon refused to let us pass through. For the Lord your God had made his spirit stubborn and his heart obstinate in order to give him into your hands, as he has now done. | |

| The Lord said to me, "See, I have begun to deliver Sihon and his country over to you. Now begin to conquer and possess his land." | |

| When Sihon and all his army came out to meet us in battle at Jahaz, | |

| At that time we took all his towns and completely destroyed them-men, women and children. We left no survivors. | |

| From Aroer on the rim of the Arnon Gorge, and from the town in the gorge, even as far as Gilead, not one town was too strong for us. The Lord our God gave us all of them. | |

| But in accordance with the command of the Lord our God, you did not encroach on any of the land of the Ammonites, neither the land along the course of the Jabbok nor that around the towns in the hills. | |
