Standard Form

1. Count Significant Figures

Click "New Number" and count the significant figures. Then click "Show Answer" or "Show in Standard Form".

Notes:
• Zeros between non-zero digits are significant (e.g. 7204 has 4 s.f.).
• For whole numbers without a decimal point, trailing zeros are treated as not significant here (e.g. 1200 has 2 s.f.).
• For decimals, all digits from the first non-zero digit to the end are significant (e.g. 0.00450 has 3 s.f.).

2. Round to 1, 2, 3, or 4 Significant Figures

Click "New Number", then choose how many significant figures to round to.

3. Expressions (All in Decimal Form)

Click "New Expression" to get a random calculation. Then round the final answer to 1–4 significant figures.

4. Expressions with Standard Form Numbers

In this mode, some of the numbers in the expression are written in standard form (A × 10n). Round the final answer to 1–4 significant figures.
